The house bicycles are kept on site and made available to guests at no charge. It is something few rentals offer, and it changes completely how a week here is spent.
They take you to the cellars, the market and the banks of the Serein without getting the car out. For more ambitious outings, several hire companies in the region offer electric bikes and guided rides through the vineyard: we are happy to point you in the right direction.

Flat riding for everyone, climbing for those who want it
Around the Grands Crus
Cross the village, go over the Serein and follow the foot of the slope carrying the seven Grands Crus. Almost flat, very short, and at a glance you understand why everything is decided on that south-west facing hillside.
Best at the end of the day, when the light rakes across the rows.
The Serein valley
Follow the river upstream on the small valley-floor roads: poplars, washhouses, villages of pale stone and very little traffic. The profile stays easy for most of the way.
The loop best suited to families with children riding on their own.
The plateaux and hamlets
Climb onto the Petit Chablis plateaux, link the hamlets together and drop back down another slope. The climbs are short but real, and the views over the valley repay the effort.
Take water: shops are scarce once you leave the village.
The Nivernais canal and the long-distance routes
West of Chablis, the Yonne valley carries the Nivernais canal and its towpath: a long, flat and traffic-free cycling route that runs through Auxerre and down towards the Morvan. It is one of the most pleasant greenways in Burgundy, and entirely manageable with children.
From the house you can reach the valley by car with the bikes, or by bike for the fitter riders. Reckon on about twenty kilometres to the outskirts of Auxerre.
Ask the Chablis tourist office for detailed maps and waymarked local routes: several themed loops cross the vineyard.
Walking through the climats
The vineyard tracks
Working tracks cross the vineyard and can be walked freely. You pass the boundary markers of the climats and the old vine huts. Do not step between the rows, especially during spraying or harvest.
The banks of the Serein
From the village, the riverside walk is flat, shaded and pushchair-friendly. An ideal end-of-day outing with small children.
The plateau woods
Above the vineyard, wooded plateaux offer cool forest tracks in summer. A good plan on hot days, when the pale stone of the village throws the heat back.
